The Nikon F-Mount was launched with the Nikon F camera in 1959 and has remained virtually unchanged since, making it the only lens mount still in production over 5 decades after its introduction. The camera mount comes essentially in 3 flavors: F, AI-S and AF, with some minor adaptations for particular cameras, mostly the digital entry-level models, which feature 2 extra screws and the minimum aperture confirmation notch, discussed later on.

Adobe Labs has released the Camera Raw and DNG converter Release Candidate v.6.7, while Nikon in recent weeks has released updates for View NX2, Capture NX2 and Camera Control pro. Yup, I’ve been off of the radar for quite a while. We spent most of September in Amsterdam, to meet my first grandchild, hook up with the family and do tourist–stuff. I also went to the Photokina in Cologne, held both the new Nikon D7000 and Pentax 645D while I also bought some gear. So: I have a lot to talk about.
