New software releases from Nikon, Adobe and Apple
| UPDATE. Today, 22-03-2011, Nikon published the View NX 2.1.2. update for Windows ONLY. The update solves an issue of My Picturetown not displaying properly in NX2. The update can be downloaded here. Note that this is a full version, which means that if you are updating from anything previous to 2.1.1 on Windows, you will not need to install that version (discussed below) as well. |
The Nikon View NX 2.1.1 update - apart of a host of bug fixes - adds a few new features plus support for the following cameras:
Coolpix P500, Coolpix P300, Coolpix L120, Coolpix L23, Coolpix S9100, Coolpix S6100, Coolpix S4100 and Coolpix S3100.
The update for either Windows (see above) or Mac, in English or Spanish can be downloaded here.
Meanwhile, Adobe Labs released the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR - CS5 ONLY) & DNG Converter 6.4, and Lightroom 3.4 Release Candidates, which add support for the following cameras:
• Nikon D5100 (not supported in the original release)
• Canon EOS 600D (Rebel T3i / Kiss X5), EOS 1100D (Rebel T3 / Kiss X50)
• Hasselblad H4D-40
• Olympus E-PL1s, E-PL2, XZ-1
• Samsung NX11.
The releases also include a series of new lens profiles for Canon, Leica and Nikon.
The new profiles for Nikon mount lenses are:
• AF-S DX 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Nikkor
• AF-S DX VR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED Nikkor
• AF-S 60mm f/2.8G ED Micro-Nikkor
• AF-S 24-120mm f/4G ED VR Nikkor
• 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM Sigma
• 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC Tamron

Finally, Apple released Aperture 3.1.2 and a Digital Camera RAW compatibility update v.3.6 for OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), Aperture and iPhoto, adding support for the following cameras:
• Canon EOS 600D (Rebel T3i / Kiss X5), EOS 1100D (Rebel T3 / Kiss X50)
• Olympus E-5
• Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100
• Pentax K-r and K-5.

The Aperture update includes various bug fixes and improvements and Apple recommends all Aperture 3 users to update to 3.1.2, which can be downloaded here.
