Nikon launch their own on-line store in the US. Unfortunately, it's outrageously expensive.
Nikon just launched their on-line store & outlet in the US.
I can hear you think: "Outlet; jay; low prices!!!"
Well, think again.
I just took a look at the DSLR section, and – at least at a quick glance – I did not find any bargains.
The D3X goes for $ 8.000. OK: $ 7.999,95 - c'mon Nikon, why keep jacking around with the five-cent-bull?
On Amazon, however, you can find this very same fine piece of equipment for $ 7.399,95. Same five-cent-bull, but at a full no-bull minus-six-hundred...
The D3S goes for more or less the same price at both stores, but the D700 costs $ 2.700 minus five at Nikon Store, while on Amazon $ 2.400 minus 1 dollar, one cent bollocks. That's another no-peanuts 300 dollar difference, give or take a few cents.
The D300s: $ 1.700 minus you-know-what @ Nikon Store, $ 1500 minus you-know-what @ Amazon. That's more than 10 per cent...
I could go on. D90? $ 900 vs. $ 847; D3000: $ 550 vs. $ 450; D5000: $ 630 vs. HEY!! $ 685.
You might want to order a D5000 at the Nikon Store, but for all the other stuff: do they really think we're THAT stupid (or that fanatic)?
