Green pictures in Nikon View?

I'm seeing a lot of searches about green pictures in Nikon View landing here.
I was totally clueless about what was going on, while I did not get any feedback from affected users either.
However, when I reviewed the bug fixes in the Nikon View NX 1.5.2 update, there was the mention fixing of a color cast problem affecting users who were using a non-Nikon color profile in the program's color preferences.
And that made a click, because I have been seeing strange color casts in the thumbnails and previews of my own View NX v.1.3 instalation.
I wrote that down to View NX not being fully compatible with Windows XP x64 and – since I hardly use it – to me it was not a big deal.

Still, if the “green image problem” looks anything like the picture above (which has a “red image problem”), you may want to either update to View NX 1.5.2, or – alternatively – select a Nikon color profile, like NKAdobe.icm, for example.
Although this did not solve my problem with JPG and TIFF previews, it did work for NEF.
If the problem is persistent on your system too, I suggest you switch your non-Nikon color profile (mine is ProPhoto RGB) to NKAdobe.icm or NKsRGB.icm and restart the program.
If that works, you may then want to try to go back to your default profile and restart the program again. That just may do the trick.

If not, I suggest you stick with one of the Nikon color profiles, which ought to solve the problem in the majority of cases.
Nikon color profiles can be found through the edit>options>color management>browse>nikon profiles menu.
Alternatively you can locate the Nikon icm files manually or search for one of the mentioned NK icm files.
On Windows machines they can generally be found at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nikon\Profiles
